NOMINATIONS/VOTE:

Shannon VanKirk was nominated with a unanimous vote as the new chair for Sage Council

FISCAL YEAR END BUDGET REPORT:

Sage was over budget by $2,000. The majority of the overage was due to courier costs. Changes have been made that are reducing the click-n-ship and Louise’s position will not filled at present. Chrystine will do some of Louise’s administrative duties for now. LSTA has given more money in grant funds. The travel to the Evergreen training was more expensive last year. This year Beth will be attending the local user group meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  • Courier

Three sites have been testing media mail using Stamps.com. This is producing significant savings and not much difference in delivery time. Beth will be looking at the next tier to potentially move over for more cost savings. 4-H groups will be contacted to make the courier bags for Hermiston, BMCC and Enterprise. Beth will be buying the supplies this next week.

  • Evergreen Open Source

Test assignments A-D are not getting much response from testers. Need to send results and comments to the Evergreen testing list-serve. Problems need to be recognized so they can be solved or changed. Paul Weiss will be leaving next week. With travel money from the Open Source LSTA grant, Beth will be traveling to all Sage libraries this fall. A grant request to Swindel and Pacific Corp. has been submitted for  server money. October 12 is the release date for the upgrade Evergreen 1.6. Paul will be providing summary of test results and migration issues before he leave.

  • Region-wide loan rules

The committee consists of: Jo Cowling, Perry Stokes, Shannon VanKirk, Marie Baldo, Kat Davis, Kathy Street, Marcia Richmond and Ken Reading. The group has met twice and the draft plan is about 50% complete. It is anticipated to be presented at the November meeting.

CIRC RULE CHANGE

Issue: Cannot renew overdue materials on-line, must renew in person

Motion by Shannon and 2nd by Cheryl with unanimous vote to extend the policy to allow renewals on overdue materials through on-line process.

CLEAN UP OF EXPIRED PATRON RECORDS

If there is a migration to Evergreen, it will be fee based on the number of patron records migrated. Need to do a clean-up of all patron records before the migration. Please work with Beth to cleanup, identify and complete. This should be a priority for the next 6 months. Everyone needs to make sure there are no social security numbers associated with patron records.

Acquisition of Global Road Warrior Product

Beth sent the login and password to everyone to try this product. The last price quote was $19,000 now offering a 50% discount to all of Sage.

      GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. Beth’s calendar is now on the Sage Wiki
  2. Next meeting will be November 18 at 1:00 p.m.
