COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  • Circulation Committee
    • The minutes are posted on the web.
    • Beth addressed the patron records and expiration dates and the need for cleaning up these records. The state recommends purging patron records for patrons who have not used the library in the last 3 years and the database needs to reflect this standard.
    • Items which have been billed for more than one year need to be suppressed from public view.
  • Catalog Committee
    • The manual is being revised and updated. The committee is doing a section at a time. The support section is now completed.
    • It is recommended to remove the 092 from the bibliographic records.
    • It is recommended that an email go out to all libraries with the purchasing information for the Marc Cataloging Tool. It is $61.00 for member purchase. It is available through Follett.
    • Minutes will be posted on the web at the end of the week.
  • Courier
    • Ontario, Nyssa and Vale no longer receive services from the Oregonian courier. In its place are 3 local courier drivers.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Self Check

Hermiston has installed the equipment and is in testing mode. There have been a few problems that are being addressed. Pendleton will be ordering their equipment this week.

  • Sage Budget

The budget was approved unanimously. It was recommended to move the Sage budget vote to early March to facilitate local budget processes.

  • Spell Check

Spell Check has been installed and is only available under keyword searches.

  • Cover Images/Reviews

Beth received a price quote from Syndetics and is waiting for one from Baker and Taylor Content CafĂ©.  Amazon images are currently free. It was decided more information and discussion is needed.

  • Downloadable audio books

Over Drive contacted Beth. It was first thought that additional software to handle the patron authentication would need to be purchased, but now it appears as if we can take care of it through local programming.  Beth and Noel will work together on the project.. It will eventually tie in with Innovative. Recommend training staff before open to patrons for use.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Web Redesign Project

The catalog webpage needs to be updated/upgraded. Looking for volunteers to serve on the committee.

Action: Send message out for volunteers on list serve to work on web page design

  • 2007 Innovative Beta testing

Innovative will be issuing the 2007 enhancements this fall. They will be doing the testing in June. Do we want to be a Beta test site?

Action: Beth will find out if we can be a test site for the last phases of the testing.

  • Report on National Innovative Users Group Conference

Beth reported on her attendance at the conference. She concentrated her class selection on web pages, 2007 enhancements and library consortiums. She met a colleague from Colorado that has been accessing our policies and procedures and looking at the website for ideas and guidance for their consortium.

Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 17.
